Designed to get your youngster up and going for the upcoming season or to give them a helping hand during the season. There are two age groups – Year 5 & 6 and Year 7 & 8. Pre season skills training with some fun mixed in.
This is open to Year 8 to Year 10 players who are looking for a great netball experience in the Summer Holidays. A good way to get ready for netball each year in January through training that helps with fitness, skills, games, and rule knowledge as well as being fun filled and full of and laughter.
This camp is for those who have attended the Centre Pass Summer Camp or have been in an Under 15 representative team. The aim of the camp is to extend the players skills and game sense while having a great deal of fun at the same time.
Players are selected to be in the squad for the Camps held in New Zealand as part of the annual exchange with the Western Region Academy which is in Bathurst, New South Wales. A team of 12 Bay of Plenty players are chosen to go to Bathurst every alternative year.
12 players are selected annually to attend a Netball New Zealand run two day training camp at the end of October. The NBOP players join Waikato players to learn from the NNZ specialists.
A programme that gets the 4 to 5 year olds active. Is based on the Physical Education Curriculum for that age level and draws on a old fashioned games and fun. Colourful bibs with foxes on them are used to add to the sense of excitement.
These are held in all 7 Netball Centres in the Bay of Plenty for Year 5 & 6 players. Players need to register to be at the day which sees a lot of fun activities along with skills and a Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic player as a special guest. The day runs between 10am and 2pm and is held indoors.
The Netball Bay of Plenty Staff is available to come into Primary Schools in particular to work with each class to develop the students’ ball handling skills and hand eye coordination. This programme is linked to the large ball skills in the curriculum.
Often a little practical assistance with a Year 4, 5 or 6 team for the coach and players can make the season run a little better. The Netball Bay of Plenty staff will work with the team and their coach to help with any skill or game areas that the coach would like.

First and most important, ENJOY IT, being negative only brings yourself and other people down
Remember you are part of a team, be tolerant and respectful to your team mates, coach, manager etc, you need them!!
Don't be afraid to try things out, don't get stuck doing the same things all the time, at some point the opposition will work out how to play against you and you'll need to vary your play so you can stay ahead.
Look after yourself, physically and mentally. The importance of nutirtion, hydration and fitness can never be under-estimated
Learn from others, watch your peers, see what they do and try to replicate it
Aim high, there is nothing you can't achieve if you really set your mind to it
Get involved with coaching and umpiring, it'll improve your understanding of the game and ultimately you'll be a better player for it
You may have had a game where you felt that you were being continually penalized in the G.C for obstruction. Ask for an umpire to attend a training session and work through it.
The captain may approach the umpire at a stoppage but the QUESTION MUST BE RULE SPECIFIC ie: my gk is being continually penalized for
contact, please explain contact to me!
If you want to improve your game you need to train outside your team training.
